Monroe Arts annual show set for April
Monroe Arts Artists will hold their 28th annual Arts Show from Tuesday, April 15 through Friday, May 9 at the Monroe County Library in Woodsfield.
Registration will be held at the library, located at 96 Home Ave., Woodsfield, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 14. Artists in the tri-state area who are 18 and older may participate.
There are 12 categories that will be accepted and judged: Paintings – Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Mix Medium and Dry Medium; Photography; Pottery/Ceramics; Sculpture; Jewelry; Fabric/Fiber; Woodworking/Furniture; and Decorative Arts.
Entry fees are as follows:
Creative Expressions Gift Shop members – 3 pieces, $20.
Non-members and the public – 3 pieces, $25.
Prizes will be awarded along with ribbons. First place in each category will receive $35. Second place will receive $30. Best of Show will receive $50 and the People’s Choice Award will receive $20.
A reception will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3 at the Monroe County Library for the presentation of awards.
All items must be ready to hang, (e.g., with a hanger on the back of the picture). If your artwork requires special rack/display, the artist is responsible with providing. The Monroe Arts Artists reserve the right to reject items made from kits, that are mass-produced or items previously entered.
This year, the 28th annual Arts Show is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC), oac.ohio.gov. The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.

Monroe Arts Council Annual Art Scholarship
The Monroe Arts Council will award its Annual Art Scholarship. Graduating seniors from the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District or applicants who are current Monroe County residents may apply.
The $500 Suzanne Pollock Scholarship was established to recognize Mrs. Pollock and her influence in education in our local school district as well as her efforts in establishing the Monroe Arts Council.
The scholarship is designated for a qualifying senior pursuing an education in an arts related field. The field of study may be a two or four-year program.
To be eligible, the graduating senior must have an overall “C” average with a “B” in Art.
The application must contain a detailed account of your plans and field of study. Applicants are invited to also submit pictures of their work.
